English Language Arts  (condensed from the National PTA Parent Guide to Student Success)

Learning new language skills is a hallmark of kindergarten. Students learn the alphabet and its role in reading. They practice rhyming, matching words with beginning sounds, and blending sounds into words. Students begin to experiment with writing and are encouraged to use a combination of drawing, dictating, and writing letters to share information, ideas, and feelings.
